The Council is composed of seven persons—the executive committee, which consists of four officers (the president, president-elect, vice president and past president) and the following invited participants or their designees: the president of the American Industrial Hygiene Association, the chair of the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists and the chair of the American Board of Industrial Hygiene.
Each of the officers serves a one-year term. The vice president is elected each year and advances to president-elect and then to president in the subsequent years. Terms in office begin and end at the time of the AIHA Fall Conference. The Academy Council may create and abolish committees to carry out specific assignments.
