Tips for  A Successful Week at AIHce

AIHce is the largest annual gathering of occupational hygienists and allied professionals from around the world. Participation provides you with the opportunity to share your research, learn more about aspects of the profession that you may be mssing in your educational program, and to network with those in the profession. Review (AIHce 2011) helpful tips to successfully prepare for and make the most out of the upcoming conference.

Course Monitors (Pre-Conference): Student Volunteer Opportunity 
AIHA invites all students who plan to attend the annual AIHce to sign-up and register to be a Professional Development Course (PDC) Monitor. If assigned, you will have the opportunity to attend the course you are monitoring for FREE. To participate, please contact the PDC - Continuing Education Coordinator.

Present at AIHce
Submit a presentation in your area of expertise that will inspire and energize your colleagues with the information, solutions and best practices they will need to meet and excel in their daily challenges. Learn more.

Podium Abstract

  • Length: 20 minutes maximum
  • Type of Presentation: Oral with or without slides
  • Classification: Scientific Research or Case Study/ Professional Practice

Poster Abstract

  • Length: Displayed for 3 days, plus author is avaialbe for scheduled 2-hour Q&A session
  • Type of Presentation: Visual display on fiberboard (@ 8' x 4')
  • Classification: Scientific Research or Case Study/ Professional Practice

EHS Crossover Program

  • Length: 60 minutes
  • Type of Presentation: Presentation by 1 or 2 speakers
  • Classification: Practical information on non-industrial hygiene topics such as safety and environnment (not mold)

Volunteer Collaboration Cafe  
Stop by the all new Volunteer Collaboration Café—an interactive spot designed for you to network with colleagues and to learn about AIHA volunteer opportunities.

FunRun
Lace up your tennis shoes and support the work of the American Industrial Hygiene Foundation. Run 5k or walk 2k.  Student members are eligible to participate in the FunRun for free.

Future Leaders and Young Member Reception
Traditionally scheduled for Sunday night during conference to welcome students and young members to AIHce. 

Student Local Sections Council Business Meeting
Meet other student local section officers and share best practices with one another.

Student Tech Talks 

Designed specifically for students and early career professionals, AIHA members lead informal discussions on a variety of topics including goals, certification, volunteering and more.

Student Track

Technical sessions specifically designed to meet the needs of AIHce student attendees.

Students and Early Career Professionals (SECP) Committee Meeting
Interact with members of the SECP Committee. Discuss current and new projects focused on developing outreach materials and providing mentors to students and young professionals.  New volunteers, including students, are encouraged to attend. 

Undergraduate and Graduate Student Poster Session
Display the latest research on important and timely issues. Authors are present to discuss findings at specified time during the conference. All posters are eligible for numerous AIHA committee and conference awards.

Volunteer Group Meetings
AIHA has more than 45 volunteer groups who focus on a variety of technical topics and several that address student needs. Unless otherwise noted, volunteer group meetings are open to all.
