Respiratory Protection Committee 

The Respiratory Protection Committee has as its purpose to provide a forum for exchanging ideas and information on control of exposure to toxic and irritating substances and oxygen-deficient atmospheres through the use of respiratory protection.

Goals and Objectives

Goal: Evaluate, and disseminate information on respiratory protection devices and the management of respiratory protection programs

Objective #1: Discuss and act upon issues.
• Track and report on identified issues.
• Respond to AIHA Board requests.
• Prepare information for publication.
• Solicit papers & organize sessions for AIHce.
• Review recommendations and practices.

Objective #2: Provide education and training on respiratory protection.
• Present a basic PDC and new PDCs.
• Develop continuing education courses.
• Sponsor short courses and seminars.

Goal: Identify and respond to respiratory protection device and respiratory protection management issues.

Objective #3: Review and comment on proposed legislation, regulations, and guidelines
• Monitor and report on rule-making activities.
• Participate in the guideline development.
• Develop positions for the AIHA Board.

Objective #4: Provide technical support to consensus standard development process.
• Participate in national consensus standards for respirator protection e.g. NFPA, ANSI.
• Provide a member to ANSI Z88 Committee
